The Shattered Spirit Tree of Redwood Creek

Clearly there must be something hallucinogenic in the waters of Redwood Creek. It seems to be getting worse. Time to get back to more normal stuff.

BTW, this is an alder most likely broken by a falling tree in a storm.

Locally, trees with hanging moss are sometimes called Spirit Trees.

I love to mine my old work and rework them with what I know now. This is from 2009 next to Redwood Creek north of Orick, CA.

For five months, on and off, I’ve been trying to get this image to reflect both the subject and the area in which we live. You’d think that a snapshot would suffice. It didn’t. I kept coming back to it. I’m done with it for now.

With a sense of forboding, Pam, Steve, and I ventured into the forest where we found this spring. Thankfully, it was quite pleasant.

Had fun with this one. Combined current techniques with some I haven’t used in over 10 years. BTW, those are rhodies. Chthulu really isn’t pink.

In 2004, dear friends took us to Chenies Manor House. Most wonderful gardens.

Uppsala Glacier

Uppsala Glacier
On Lago Argentino at the base of the Andes, there are three large glaciers that come into the lake, Perito Moreno, Uppsala, and Speggazini. When I was there, we could get to the first two. The channel to Speggazini was blocked by too much ice.
