On Lago Argentino at the base of the Andes, there are three large glaciers that come into the lake, Perito Moreno, Uppsala, and Speggazini. When I was there, we could get to the first two. The channel to Speggazini was blocked by too much ice.
This has become a tourist destination in Argentina. In the five years prior to my visit, the town tripled in size. It’s a good taking off point for great mountain hikes, glaciers, and I’m sure other things too.
It’s hard to believe that icebergs are this color. But, they are. Some look as if blue paint had been thrown over them. This is in Lago Argentino, Argentina, in 2010
The lesson for me with this image was never to explain to a potential buyer how you did it. It’s like explaining a magic trick. All the magic disappears.
